EULOGY

by Michael Dojc

When we were younger I thought that you were really cool
how could you grow up to be such a fool?
Maybe if you didn't smoke a pack a day
or knock back vodka as if it were lemonade
But even then we thought you'd make it some way

Somehow I feel some guilt run across my brow
I was by your side when we went to tip that cow
Life is like that you make your own choices in the end
I just hope that I was really a good friend

Why do I have to say the Eulogy?
I don't remember the days that used to be
nostalgia never tells the truth
neither does neglect so why did you?

As you looked at me from that hospital bed
teary stare in your eyes tubes all over your head
I hope you could tell that I was really there
cause I cared
